Dr Harsh Vardhan launches ‘AYUSH Sanjivani’ App

  1. Dr Harsh Vardhan, Union Health & Family Welfare Minister launched the ‘AYUSH Sanjivani’ App.
  2. The ‘AYUSH Sanjivani’ mobile app will help to generate data on acceptance and usage of AYUSH advocacies and measures among the population and its impact in prevention of COVID 19.
  3. It is developed by the Ministry of AYUSH and MEITY and shall reach out to a target of 50 lakh people.

UP becomes first state to provide facility of beds with ventilators in each district of state

  • Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to provide the facility of beds with ventilators in hospitals of each and every district of the state.
  • Now, all 75 districts of the state can provide higher levels of care to the patients of COVID-19.
  • Uttar Pradesh has 24 testing labs for COVID- 19 now and around 1,300 beds with a  ventilator to fight with this disease.
  • The government tries to save the lives of people from COVID-19 through community surveillance.
  • For this, the government has constituted a Village Supervision Committee or Gram Nigrani Samiti in every village to curb the Spread of Corona.

Dia Mirza's tenure as UNEP Goodwill Ambassador extended till 2022

  • The United Nations Environment Program (UNEP) extended the term of environmentalist and actor-producer Dia Mirza as its National Goodwill Ambassador until the end of 2022 for a further two years.
  • The actress is also the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal Advocate.
  • As a Goodwill Ambassador, Mirza will continue work with the UN to further spread the message on key areas including clean air, clean seas, wildlife  protection and climate change.
  • One of Dia's major campaigns during her first tenure as the ambassador was #BeatPlasticPollution helped to highlight the problem at the highest levels and led to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's call for clarion to free India Single Use Plastics by 202.

Creator of Finding Nemo, Rob Gibbs passes away

  1. Rob Gibbs, who worked on films like Toy Story 2, Finding Nemo, Inside Out, Onward, Monsters, Inc. and Incredibles 2 died at the age of 55.
  2. The Pixar director, story artist and writer worked at the Pixar studios for 20 years.
  3. Gibbs' also has his credit for the short film Tokyo Mater (2008), the series Mater's Tall Tales and Tales From Radiator Springs, all emanating from the Cars franchise, Brave (2012), Monsters University (2013), Incredibles 2 (2018) and the upcoming Disney+ Monsters at Work series.

MoD inks contract with TPSED for Modernisation Of Air Field Infrastructure Of 37 Airfields 

  1. Ministry of Defence signed contract for Modernisation of Air Field Infrastructure, MAFI of 37 airfields for Indian Air Force, Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard with M/s Tata Power SED (TPSED).
  2. The project costs Rs 1,200 crore.
  3. The MAFI Phase-II is a follow-on programme based on MAFI Phase-I that included upgradation of 30 airfields of Indian Air Force.
  4. The airfields modernised under MAFI Phase-I have been of immense benefit to both military and civil users.
  5. The project is a turnkey project that includes installation and commissioning of modern airfield  equipment like Cat-II Instrument Landing System (ILS) and Cat II Air Field Lightning System (AFLS), etc.
  6. The modern equipment around the airfield will also be directly connected to Air Traffic Control, thereby providing excellent control of the airfield systems to the air traffic controllers.

India, AIIB sign USD 500 million “COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Project” 

  • India and AIIB signed a $500 million "COVID-19 Emergency Response and Health Systems Preparedness Initiative" to improve its public health preparedness.  
  • This is the first ever health sector support from the Bank to India. 
  • The additional program would meet the needs of vulnerable individuals, at-risk communities, medical and emergency workers and care providers, treatment and research facilities, and regional and animal health organizations, serving all states and territories around the country.  
  • The project would also improve India's health system's resilience to provide key public health prevention and patient care to better control COVID-19 and future outbreaks of the disease.  
  • It will help strengthen country's Integrated Disease Surveillance Program, revamp infectious disease hospitals and medical college hospitals.

India Post partners ICMR for delivery of COVID-19 testing kits to 200 labs in country 

  1. India Post has entered into a tie up with ICMR  for delivery of its Covid-19 testing Kits from its 16 regional depots to the 200 testing labs in the country. 
  2. Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) has set a target of carrying out around one lakh tests across the country per day. 
  3. For this crucial work, India Post with its vast network of one lakh 56 thousand post offices has once again geared up for performing as a strong COVID warrior. 
  4. These kits are being delivered packed in dry ice. 
  5. India Post has been delivering mails, medicines, financial assistance at doorsteps and even distributing food and ration to needy during lockdown.
